Dublin Food Coop is a cooperative owned and run by its 1,400+ active members. We are Ireland's leading source for organic, local, Fairtrade, GMO-free and sustainable products - a true food democracy in the heart of Dublin city. We feature a relaxed environment (couches & comfy chairs), outdoor seating, quality food, interaction with community groups and innovators, as well as connections with cultural and educational events.
We recently participated in Culture Night, a nationwide cultural celebration. In collaboration with the community group named The Exchange Dublin, the free event featured dancing, mural painting, short film screening, and a pop-up park (as part of the global PARK(ing) Day event). More than 60 people attended and participated.
How we promote cooperatives’ values and culture
The Coop is managed and operated using consensus based decision-making and collaborative participation among producers, volunteers, and staff. Our current fruit & vegetable direct sourcing initiative, for instance, was developed by volunteers and board members, operated by staff, and guided by members' feedback.
