Cooperativa Sociale Matrioska

MATRIOSKA is a social cooperative set up in Rome in July 2006, within a project for the development of social self-entrepreneurship promoted by the social Cooperative Tandem and the social consortium COIN. The project was financed by the Ministry of the Economic Development and was launched in January 2007. The key features of the cooperative are: over 77% presence of young Byelorussian people; over 55% presence of women; 60% presence of people with disabilities, far beyond the limits provided by the national law on social cooperatives (law 381/91). We are specialized in awareness raising through social entertainment, organizing theatrical shows for festivals and in schools, in both Italy and Europe, developing and broadcasting tv programs financed by local and national institutions. We released a huge number of documentaries and video reports, organized and managed live and pre-recorded broadcasts on national networks and for institutional web-portals (e.g. an intense reportage on the Paralympic games held in London in 2012, visible on www.superabile.it, the web portal on the world of disability, financed by INAIL, the Italian Workers Compensation authority). We can rely on a high standards production studio and our members have developed skills in all aspects of creative audio-video production, working as actors, anchor men, comedians, technicians, cameramen, sound and video engineers.
Tourism Attractiveness
The cooperative was born in order to provide a job opportunity to people with disabilities and learning difficulties, most of them being former unaccompanied minors visiting Italy from Belarus, where they lived in orphanages. The choice to focus on a creative job like video making, new media and social entertainment was based on the aptitudes and inclinations of the members, after years spent on orphanages, without any motivation to communication and creativity. The Cooperative has organized for many years cultural exchanges with youths coming from Belarus and Brazil and has taken care of the stay and the activities of their guests. Visitors will be pleased to join us at Matrioska to have a in depth view of the possibility for people with disabilities to be employed and also to share the expertise in video-making, broadcasting social tv programs, awareness raising and inclusive activities. Coming to Matrioska in Rome means becoming the leading actor of a collectively directed movie, a game in which conflicts don’t have to result in a war but can be managed in a constructive and positive way. Matrioska doesn’t invite its guests just to participate as spectators to its activities, but to actively contribute to the production of TV programs, documentaries, performances and training activities.
