Worker cooperative set up by three partners in 2001. It is specialized in the production of medical and aromatic plants, native greens in organic agriculture, transformation in herbal teas, spices, therapeutical oils and dehydrated greens.
We propose a guided tour in the threshing floor and the installations of the Milhulloa factory, where we are going to identify and explain the different growings we produce organically with the relevant features.
Moreover, exploiting the plants which we grow and collect, we offer a wide range of workshops, such a as making cosmetics, soaps, hair lotions, toothpaste, bath salt, etc. We also offer workshops based on spreading of plants and making mixtures with plants used to heal other plants in an organic way.
The area surrounding our cooperative has a really nice landscape and several architecture jewels which we strongly recommend you visit. The Pambre Castle (year 1375) is a unique example of medieval military architecture in Galicia. The central part of the building consists of a tower, with a a square floor, flanked by other four which are smaller. Inside you can instead see an “horreo”, typical Galician building to keep the crop.
Another interesting attraction for visitors is the Santiago Way, which goes from Palas de Rey to El Coto, where our factory is located. It is part of the French way and has 9 Kms which go across chestnut forests, little rivers and oak forests.
We welcomed 30 groups of visitors a year (15-40 people per group) , with an average of two -three visits a month.
How we promote cooperatives’ values and culture
The cooperative welcomes every month 1-2 groups of young visitors, a part of the conference received deals with cooperative principles. We are working on programs of Intercooperation with hotel schools, where they cook using cooperative products and we provide information about values and principles inspiring the cooperatives.
