Terre vivante is a cooperative that employs 28 people and is based in the heart of the French Alps since 1994. Terre vivante is above all a publishing house, dealing with environmental and sustainable development matters. It also publishes a magazine called "Les 4 Saisons du Jardin Bio" (9 issues a year). In addition to these publishing skills, Terre vivante provides training sessions which occur in its organic gardens, and visitors can benefit from the ecological centre which spreads over 110 acres.
Tourism Attractiveness
The Terre vivante centre welcomed 20,000 visitors per year in the early 2010s. The new ways of visiting the centre brings us much closer to 8,000 visitors a year. People can learn how to install an organic garden, how to grow plants using permaculture methods, how to respect and encourage bio-diversity. We also show how to build your house or renew it in an ecological way.
How we promote cooperatives’ values and culture
As a Scop, we regularly participate in the Scop regional organisation (URSCOP RhĂ´ne Alpes) events. We emphasize this aspect of our mission statement to every single visitors, or conferences we are part of. We provide facilities to neighbours organizations, we relay any networking opportunities
