The museum is located in the Owen's native town and is open Monday to Friday throughout the year from 11am to 3pm. Our website advertises additional openings during holiday periods. The museum preserves and cares for a unique collection of images and artefacts which illustrate Owen's life and ideas. The Co-op movement is an important component of this story. The museum's high standards of care and presentation are recognised by the award granted in 2014, when it gained full accreditation by the Welsh Museums and Libraries Association. It welcomes about 2000 visitors per annum, many of which are co-operators from all over the world and many more interact with our extensive website at http://robert-owen-museum.org.uk/
How we promote cooperatives’ values and culture
The key purpose of the museum is to keep alive the memory of Owen's life. It explains how Owen dedicated his life and his fortune to the improvement of working conditions and underlines his visionary ambitions for the education of all children. The museum not only tells the story of a remarkable life, but also traces the community ideas which keep inspiring co-operators and social reformers to this day.
